WICKENBURG DOWNTOWN REPORT
In June 2005, the Town of Wickenburg hired a consultant to do an analysis of the needed improvements to the Downtown area. Wickenburg is a town possessing and exhibiting a rich history, qualities often cast aside in the mainstream of a modernized society. Many communities have eliminated their historical ties in the name of future progress. Founded by miners, ranchers and farmers, Wickenburg has sustained itself over the years on tourism and an attractive “Old West” environment shaped by the strong values of tradition kept alive by the Town’s residents.
In 2008, US-60 will join US-93 over the Hassayampa River, thus redirecting traffic out of the downtown area. This bypass will cause a significant decrease in the number of vehicles that drive through the downtown area. The benefit of this is that it will make it more pedestrian friendly. The downside is the loss of traffic to the downtown shops. This report includes a large number of tables about Wickenburg compared to the Market Trade area.
