RECYCLING

 

The Public Works Department, assisted by the Recycling Ad-Hoc Committee, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Town of Wickenburg’s Recycling Program. This new program consists of a drop-off center at its new location, Sickles Sanitation, at the west end of the industrial park. The Town’s Greenwaste (brush) drop-off program at the old landfill site has been closed.

New Hours of Operation at Sickles Sanitation:

Monday – Friday  8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Saturday  8:00 am – Noon

 Materials Accepted at the Recycling Center:

Aluminum

Household aluminum products, such as beverage cans, foil baking pans and aluminum foil.

Brown Paper Bags

Grocery bags

Cardboard

Moving and packing boxes. Please break down boxes to conserve space. No Styrofoam packing materials are accepted.

Cartons

Milk, juice and creamer containers.

Chipboard

Cereal, cracker, cake mix and other food boxes. Please remove plastic inserts.

Glass

Glass of any color is now being accepted and can be added into the mix. Remove any lids and add them separately. 

Newspaper

Including advertising inserts.

Paper - Mixed

Magazines, junk mail, office paper, catalogs and phone books.

Paper - Shredded

Please place shredded office paper inside a white or clear plastic bag to contain the material. This is the only time plastic bags are accepted in the mix.

#1 Plastics (PET)

Water bottles and soda bottles (look for the number 1 on the bottom of the item inside the recycling arrows).

#2 Plastics (HDPE)

Milk jugs and detergent bottles (look for the number 2 on the bottom of the item inside the recycling arrows).

Steel / Tin Cans

Fruit, soup, vegetable and pet food cans.

NO PLASTIC BAGS OR GROCERY BAGS ARE ACCEPTED AT THE RECYCLING CENTER!

Grocery bags can be returned to both Bashas and Safeway Food Stores in Wickenburg.

 

RECYCLING TIPS:

 

NO PLASTIC BAGS!

 

Please drop off your recyclables loose (not bagged, except for shredded paper).

You may co-mingle (mix) all of these materials, NO NEED TO SORT!

Please drain beverages and rinse food particles out of recyclables to minimize odor and flies.
