Truth In Taxation Public Hearing Notice of Tax Increase
As part of its Fiscal Year 2022-23 budget process, the Town is considering an increase in the primary property tax levy amount.
Though technically an increase because the Towns levy amount will be increasing, there is no increase in the rate property owners will be paying. The reason the levy is increasing is due to keeping the rate the same along with annexations and/or new construction. Therefore, just as it cost $50.00 per $100,000 last year on residential property, it will still cost $50.00 per $100,000 in the coming year.
In compliance with Section 42-17107 of Arizona Revised Statutes, the Town of Wickenburg is notifying its property taxpayers of the Town of Wickenburg’s intention to raise its primary property taxes over last year's level. The Town of Wickenburg is proposing an increase in primary property taxes of $53,200 or 4.14%.
For example, the proposed tax increase will cause the Town of Wickenburg primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to be $50.00. Without the proposed tax increase, the total taxes that would be owed on a $100,000 home would have been $48.01.
This proposed increase is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction. The increase is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides.
All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on the tax increase that is scheduled to be held Monday, June 6, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers at 155 N Tegner St., Wickenburg, Arizona.
