1. What is there to do in town this weekend?

Town Hall is open Monday – Thursday from 7 am until 6 pm except for holidays and can be reached at 928-684-5451 at 155 N. Tegner Street, Suite A. The police department is open 24 hours per day 7 days per week and can be reached at 928-684-5451 x1539.

3. I am moving to town and need to turn on my water, electric and garbage service, who should I contact?

The Town of Wickenburg handles the water and garbage service throughout the town and the utility department can be reached at 928-684-5451 x1520. You will need to fill out a utility service request form which can be faxed in or brought to Town Hall. The Town is the electric provider for the downtown area and APS is the electric provider outside that area. 4. Where can I get a building permit or business license?

Customers can apply for building permits, zoning variances and businesses licenses at the front counter of Town Hall located at 155 N. Tegner Street or call 928-684-5451. Questions regarding zoning, code enforcement, and building can also be handled at the counter. You may contact the Building Inspector at 928-684-5451 x1513 or the Town Planner at 928-684-5451 x1512. 5. What do I do if I have a complaint or compliment?

The Town of Wickenburg Community Development and Neighborhood Services Department handles all code and ordinance enforcement issues. All complaints are investigated and if found to be in violation, they are issued a notice to abate the situation. All complaints can be made in person or by calling 928-684-5451 x1513. 7. How do I volunteer?

The Town of Wickenburg welcomes anyone interested in volunteering. To volunteer, please fill out a Town of Wickenburg employment application. A completed application can be turned in to Town Hall by mail, fax or in person. Background checks are completed on all persons age 18 years and older for the protection of our citizens. Please feel free to contact the Human Resources office at 928-684-5451 x1508 for additional information or questions.

8. How do I request traffic enforcement in my neighborhood?

You can contact the police department at 928-684-5451 ext. 1539 to let them know the issues and request extra traffic enforcement. They will try to increase the presence of police in your area to deal with the problem, based on the availability of officers during their shifts. 10. Whom do I contact about my water service?

If you want to connect, disconnect or pay your bill, please call Town Hall at 928-684-5451 x1520 or visit Town Hall. If you have a leak, please call 928-684-5451 x1520 during normal business hours or after hours call the Police Department at 928-684-5451 x1539 and they will call someone out to take care of the problem. Town Hall is open Monday – Thursday from 7 am – 6 pm and the police department is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

13. Where do I find election results?

The Town Clerk’s office is in charge of reporting the election results that come from Maricopa County Elections and Yavapai County. The results will be visible on the town website under the Clerk’s Department and Election Information as soon as we receive the information from the election offices. 14. I need to request a police report or records, whom do I contact?

15. I received a ticket and want to pay the fine, whom should I contact?

16. Do I need a permit to have a garage or yard sale?

Yes, you need to have a free permit that is available at Town Hall or on our website. You are limited to five days per year.

1. When is my court date?

The initial court date and time that you must appear is written on the bottom of your citation. Please note, for parking citations the initial court date and time that you must appear is written on the top right hand side of the citation. If you are unsure, you may call the Wickenburg Municipal Court at 928-684-5451 x1533 or x1515.

2. What if I can't appear on my court date?

If you have been cited for a civil traffic violation, you may pay your fine through the mail or in person prior to your court date. Or you may request an extension. The request must be in writing and must be received at the court no later than 7 days before your court date or it will be denied.

If you have been cited for a criminal violation, you may file for an extension and you must state good cause. Court date extensions must be requested in writing at least 7 days prior to your court date. Extensions are not automatically granted. If good cause cannot be shown, the extension will not be granted and you will have to appear on your original court date.

3. Do I have to report a change of address?

Yes. If you have any pending cases with the Municipal Court, it is your responsibility to keep your address current as well as your phone number. If you fail to provide the Court with the appropriate contact information, you may not receive proper notification regarding your case in the future. This could result in a warrant being issued for your arrest, or a default judgment entered against you.

4. Can you tell me if my license has been suspended?

If you want to know about your MVD record, you must contact the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles at (602) 255-0072.

5. If I have to pay a fine, when do I need to pay it?

1. Where can I find the applications?

All applications are on the Town of Wickenburg website in the Documents section under the Employment folder, see link at the top of the page. We have a Town of Wickenburg application that you to print and fill out or a fillable form. You can also pick up application packets at the front desk at Town Hall.

2. How many jobs are there with the Town of Wickenburg?

The Town of Wickenburg has approximately 80 full-time positions and 30 part time / summer jobs.

3. Do I need to complete a separate application for each job I want to apply for?

Yes, A new application is required for each employment opportunity. Photocopies are accepted if each application has an original signature.

4. Can I apply for a position any time I wish?

No, the Town of Wickenburg only accepts applications for open positions listed on our website.

5. Is there a different application for police officers and dispatch applicants?

Yes, police officers and dispatchers must complete the Town of Wickenburg application, Police Department background questionnaire and Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board application (AZPOST). All applications are found in the documents section (link above), under the employment folder.

6. How will I know what jobs I'm qualified for?

A job description will be posted on the website with the specific requirements. These job descriptions are also available at Town Hall and are usually handed out with the applications.

7. If I've previously completed an application, will I automatically be considered for other positions?

No, you must submit a separate application for all positions you are interested in. If a position opens up within a year of the original opening, you can call 928-684-5451 x1508 to request your application be considered in this round of applications.

8. Can I just submit a resume instead of filling in the employment history on the application?

No, generally the resume does not address all the information requested on the application.

9. Do you accept faxed or emailed applications?

We do accept faxed and emailed applications.

10. What should I do if my address or phone number changes?

11. How soon will I find out my status once I have applied?

All applicants selected for a personal interview will be contacted by phone or email. All applicants will receive notification following the selection and acceptance of a new employee. This process can take up to four weeks. Police applications may take longer to process.

1. Who can submit a project application?

Any Wickenburg resident or organization, group or business located in Wickenburg is eligible to submit a project application.

2. Who can vote?

Any Town of Wickenburg resident high school age and over with a utility bill or ID card showing address in Town limits.

3. How do I know how much my project will cost?

Come to one of the workshops or reach out to Town staff to help you estimate the cost of the project. It must be less than $65,000.

4. What if I can’t be there on Voting Day?

Voting will take place on August 1, 2018. You can vote via phone from 8am – 4pm by calling (928) 668-0500 or (928) 668-0566 or in person from 5 – 6:30pm at the Community Center.

Eligible voters include any Town of Wickenburg resident high school age and over with a utility bill or ID card showing address in Town limits. If phoning in your vote, Town employees will verify address and track votes. Each eligible voter can vote one time, for only one project. The winner will be announced that evening.

5. What projects are eligible?

Any project that provides a public benefit and is located on Town property is eligible. Project must be less than $65,000.

6. Can I submit more than one project application?

You can submit as many applications as you want, but you will also be responsible to plan and promote each project.

7. What will happen on Voting Day?

Each project will be presented. Each eligible voter will be given a single ballot. Choose the project you want funded on your ballot, and then drop it in the ballot box.

8. Who will do most of the work on my project submittal?

You will! Town staff will be available to assist you in estimating costs, feasibility, etc. However, the applicant will be responsible for the project submittal and promotion.

9. What can $65,000 buy?

The list could be vast and varied, but some ideas include: Playground equipment, Park benches, Community garden, Trees, Painted bike lanes, Shade structures, Bike racks, Amphitheater, Public art & murals, Improved trails, Way finding signs, Unique tourist attractions, Landscaping, Racquetball court, and more!

1. What hours can I pay my bill at Town Hall?

Town Hall hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm. Town Hall is closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays. We are located at 155 N Tegner Street, Suite A.

2. What services am I paying for on my Wickenburg utility bill each month?

Most Wickenburg bills include four utilities: water, wastewater (sewer), electric and sanitation (trash). Depending on where you live in Wickenburg, you may not pay all four of these. Some customers, for example, only pay for water and sanitation.

3. What days of the week are my trash and recycling picked up?

You can call the utilities department at (928) 684-5451 x1520 for specific information, but generally the residential trash and recycling pick up is as follows:
Monday – Trash pick-up North of Wickenburg Way
Tuesday – Trash pick-up South of Wickenburg Way

4. Who should I call if they forgot to pick up my trash or recycling?

5. How does the town determine how much to charge for these utility services?

All Wickenburg utilities are what are known as Enterprise Funds, meaning they are self-sufficient through user fees rather than subsidized by tax dollars. Utility rates are approved by the Town Council. These rates are set up to collect only as much revenue as it costs to run the service, with a small portion being set aside for infrastructure repair and improvements.

6. I received a utility bill that seems higher than normal. What should I do?

Please contact our utility billing division right away at (928) 684-5451 x1520. One of our customer service representatives will be happy to assist you in determining which of your utilities (water, sewer, electric, or trash) is higher than average and what the cause may be.

7. Why did I receive a large water bill this month?

Water bills can be higher than average for a variety of reasons. Some common causes include: hosting guests in your home for an extended period of time; a leaking toilet, sink or other plumbing fixture; a leaking appliance, such as a washing machine or dishwasher; filling a pool or other water feature; or leaving a hose or irrigation system running for an extended period of time.

8. Why is my wastewater (sewer) bill higher than my water bill?

Because it costs more to process wastewater before releasing it back into the ground than it does to pump water out of the ground and to your property, rates for wastewater usage are higher than for water usage. Additionally though it is being phased out, January 1, 2014 water usage allows for up to 3,000 gallons of water per month, effective January 1, 2015 that amount will drop to 2,000 gallons, and January 1, 2016 it will drop to 1,000 gallons, while wastewater usage is calculated per thousand gallons of water actually used. Effective January 1, 2017 all actual water used will be billable.

9. Why did I receive a large electric bill this month?

Electric bills in Arizona can fluctuate drastically from winter to summer, with the higher temperatures increasing the use of air conditioners or swamp coolers. More people also means more electricity for more hot water, lights, cooking & other appliance usage. Just one extra body creates more heat, opens more doors and takes more showers. Even if the number of people in the house remains the same, but the people themselves change, often so do electric requirements because of preferences such as thermostat settings. Another possible drain on electricity which you would need to have a licensed electrician or other contractor verify is aging or faulty appliances.

10. My bill is high and I checked all my appliances, hoses and plumbing fixtures and don't see any leaks. What should I do?

Please contact our utility billing division at (928) 684-5451 x1520 to set up a walk-through of your home or business with a member of our utilities staff. While they will try their best to help you determine if there’s an undetected leak or other problem, it would be up to the property owner to contact a licensed plumber or electrician to confirm all appliances & fixtures are working properly. In rare cases, an underground water or irrigation line may also be leaking somewhere on your property or theft of your water may be occurring.

11. Is it possible for a water meter to “jump” or “over-read,” resulting in a high bill?

Modern water meters are precision engineered equipment designed to be extremely accurate. Therefore, it is very rare for a meter to malfunction resulting in a higher reading than the amount of water that actually passes through it. Though only the flow of water can register usage on a meter, over time dirt, other debris, and aging meters can actually cause a water meter to become slower resulting in a lower reading and a reduced water bill.

12. I think my water meter is reading incorrectly. What are my options?

Customers have the option of having their meter tested by an independent company not affiliated with the Town. Though a Meter Test Fee is required at the time this service is ordered, this fee is refundable if the meter is found to be over-reading. Should the meter be over-reading an adjustment will be issued during the next billing cycle. The customer forfeits this testing fee if the meter is found to be operating within normal range or is under-billing the customer.

13. What can I do with bulk trash, electronics or large brush?

Bulk trash can be taken to the annual dump days for free for Town of Wickenburg customers which is usually in April. The brush can be picked-up for a charge by calling (928) 684-5451 x1520. Electronics recycling usually takes place twice per year in November and April. Please call Public Works at (928) 684-5451 x1556 for the exact dates.
